Does the firm have a competitive advantage? This really is an incredibly simplified approach to business strategy. The author greewald includes his own analysis on several companies regarding their place in their respective competitive market with suggestions on how to go forward.
It provides a straightfoward framework to analyse and understand the quality of a business, the existence of barriers to entry and the sustainability of these barriers when identified that barriers currently exist. When reading the book, I would suggest using some time to really grasp the first chapters about strategy and competitive advantages.
Each chapter is divided into one part theory followed by one relevant case study. A necessary read for those interested in competitive analysis. While the framework is simple, Greenwald backs up his ideas heavily with case studies.
