Christopher’s friend and guard, Colin of Berkamshire takes the lead in this story that leads him in a very Twelfth Night kind of way to his love, Alienore tthis Solenge.

One of my favorites of the series, mostly because Colin is so amusing in his single minded devotion to the art of combat. Not the heartbreakingly sweet book that its predecessor was, but a great book to read when you are in the mood for fun!

I didn’t see how a hero would BO would possibly appeal to me. Alienore has only heard of his wicked reputation and when she finds herself betrothed to him, she believes her only option is to flee. Unfortunately, as “Sir Henri”she is now attendant upon Sybil who is being sent to Colin.

I liked him, and I disliked him: I really do love Lynn Kurland’s stories! Colin dismisses her as pitiful when he thinks she’s a momdnt – and then praises her as amazingly strong just because she’s now a girl.

He had a ruthless reputation to consider and so treating Ali’nore like a man was important because in his mind that was the greatest kueland he could give her. The Story Betrothed to the Butcher of Berkhamshire!

Or telling her that she was intelligent because she didn’t dance as well as the others. The story proper starts two years later, when Alienore is now known as ‘Sir Henri’ and has the pretty cushy job of being a knight-in-waiting to a nobleman’s daughter.

Why neither Humbert nor Isabeau realized what a bestial nature Sir Etienne had or why they would put him in charge of their daughter’s progress to Blackmour, I’ll never understand. There just isn’t a lot of chemistry here.

She was living in Hawaii at the time and the scope for her imagination poisoned fish, tropical cliffs, large spiders was great and poor Clinton bore the brunt of it.

She’s safe for two years. The very funny thing is the arrogance of him. So he wooed her the only way he knows how – by polishing and sharpening all of her weapons. As you can tell, I’ve been on a bit of a romance novel binge lately I find them a great way to de-stress and the latest I am positively obsessed with is the hilarious From This Moment On by Lynn Kurtland. At one point Colin breaks Alienore’s nose!

Alienore is so afraid of getting married to Colin her betrothedshe runs off, dressing as a man. Mar 14, Rhonda Soukup rated it really liked it. Published October 1st by Berkley Publishing first published It just seemed like a stupid and illogical thing to do when the truth would have saved all of them many troubles, especially the most stupid thing of all, the trip to France.

All to avoid the altar with Berkhamshire. A full-time writer, she lives in the Pacific Northwest. All she seemed yhis do with skitter around like a mouse. Anyway, this book is hilarious and perfect and awesome. A fitting tale for the most feared warrior of the times. This is one odd romance.

I was powerfully put off with the author’s portrayal of Sybil: After he defended her from others and protected her, she was still scared of him! lynnn

He is not considered to be such a great catch by the young maidens of England and France. I also don’t know why her om was such a moron about the stepmother, nor why the stepmother was so mean to Alienore but seemingly not her brothers. Book ratings by Goodreads.

He cannot comprehend why the dimwitted potential brides all beg off – can’t they appreciate a real warrior? Now, I’ll be honest, this book isn’t really my style. Isabeau immediately realized who she kudland and she protected “Sir Henri” for two years. Alienore was the perfect heroine for him once she realized he kurlane a soft side: Fans of humorous medieval romance with unlikely hero. Colin of Berkhamshire is otherwise known as the Butcher of Berkhamshire.

It’s odd, because there are a few supporting characters who are quite engaging. Return to Book Page. I really enjoy her as an author overall. He’s a man’s man – he doesn’t dance, flatter, use fine table manners or know how to treat a woman.
