It could be that even using the U3 header would generate the same code if you have used only the registers which exist in both devices.
Author David Talbot Posted Sep Setting aside that you wrote Win10 for both, which doesn’t make sense, those aren’t quite “compiler objects”. I’ve used and re-installed various versions of uVision on various versions of Windows.
Thanks again for your help. IT also maintains the legacy junk pile, in case we really have to go “back to the future” with software and legacy test cards, test stations, etc.

Your answer clarified my ambiguity. Or maybe one is a fully licensed version, the other isn’t yet. Anyway you should use the right header and check if it still hangs the reason is probably somewhere else.
Has anyone got uvision3 to perform under windows 10 as it did in windows 7? Or you have library paths configured to look in strange places. In fact, on win10, the uvision3 installation has the uvision4 library files under C:
